The next three postings in this series will be dedicated to analysis of publicly-available data on Texas health care. The first in the series covers the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Medical Expenditure Panel Survey, which has been referred to in past Texas Insight reports. The second covers health insurance data for the state in detail from a variety of sources, including the American Community Survey, the National Health Interview Survey, and the Current Population Survey. The third piece explores the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data for Texas. Exploring these sources for data that can be used to document health care realities here in Texas is useful in formulating solutions for the current challenges Texas faces in effectively providing health care to residents.
